Dementia Awareness Week 2017

Dementia Awareness WeekEvery year in May, Rutland Reminders supports Dementia Awareness Week – a national event organised by the Alzheimer’s Society.

This year’s event is 14-20 May and is set to be our busiest yet!

As in previous years, our volunteers will be hosting an awareness stand at Uppingham Market (Friday 19 May)  and Tesco Oakham (Saturday 20 May), where the public can come and chat to us about our free singing sessions and about local support for people with dementia and for their carers.

In addition, our volunteer singers will be visiting Rutland Memorial Hospital on Wednesday 17 May to give a taster of the songs we sing at our monthly sessions to the staff and patients.

Rutland Radio have also kindly invited our Chairman, Dr Charles Lawrence, to speak about Rutland Reminders and Dementia Awareness Week on Monday 15 May at 11.30am.

Rutland Reminders offers two free monthly sessions, with plans for a third from September, to people in Rutland with dementia, as well as providing support and information to carers.
