We hold two group singing sessions each month, one regular session in Oakham and one outreach session in Uppingham.
Oakham’s sessions are held on the third Tuesday of each month from March to July and September to December. We meet at Rutland Care Village, Huntsmans Drive, Oakham LE15 6RP in the Brambles Social Centre from 3.30pm. (View how to find us page)
Our session structure is as follows:
3.20 Setting up the room with our new chairs, the gift of Rutland Lions.
3.30 Welcome guests: residents, non-residents and their Carers.
– Warm-up songs
– Lots of old, well-loved songs, with requests from Guests and Carers.
4.15 Poetry Interlude with soft drinks.
4.25 More songs.
4.45 Wind-down with closing numbers.
– Thanks and final notices: date of next meeting.
5.00: Tea and chat
5.30: Departure of residents, non-residents and Carers.
In addition, we often have special guest speakers from a number of organisations, such as Rutland County Museum who bring a selection of memorabilia for guests to reminisce.
Uppingham – Rutland Reminders Outreach
A group of our volunteers take Rutland Reminders in to Aberdeen House, 20 Stockerston Road, Uppingham LE15 9UD at 2pm on the second Tuesday of each month, with a very similar format to that of the Oakham session (see details above).
