This year’s national awareness week for dementia – Dementia Awareness Week – was organised by The Alzheimer’s Society and ran from 14 – 20 May 2017.
Rutland Reminders volunteers took part in a number of events throughout the week:
On Monday 15 May, our founder, Dr Charles Lawrence was featured on Rutland Radio and talked about Rutland Reminders and Dementia Awareness.
On Thursday 18 May our volunteers sang for staff, patients and visitors at Rutland Memorial Hospital, sharing the popular songs from our regular singing sessions.
On Friday 19 May volunteers hosted a stand at Uppingham Market and on Saturday 20 May they were at Tesco Oakham to share information about our service and to help raise awareness of dementia and the support available to people with dementia in Rutland and their carers.
People with dementia and their carers also joined us at our regular singing session on Tuesday 16 May at Brambles Social Centre at Rutland Care Village.
